People are living longer and so are their horses.  These days we take better care of our equine friends through proper diet, the right medications, shelter in summer and winter and a better understanding of their everyday needs.  Some of our horses at Paint Creek Farm in Paige, Texas, are recovering from an injury.  Most of our horses are in their twenties and are ready to retire from the show ring, from being a lesson horse or from just plain riding.  They're tired.  They're tuckered out and  happily out to pasture in a most pampered way.

This site is dedicated to the care and maintenance of geriatric horses.  We hope you will enjoy our horses at Paint Creek Farm as much as we do.  Please check out our new article "Care of the Older Horse."

All horses are treated on an individual basis.  What works for our horses may not work for yours.  Please contact your veterinarian before administering any medications or treatments for your geriatric horse.
